A baritenor crooner from the cornfields of Iowa, a gamer nerd, and once called an "off-brand prince you'd buy at Target."

Actor | Singer | Writer | Producer

Hi Jim!

The Bloc Agency was one of the first talent agencies I ever heard of when I moved to the city, and it has always been a dream to get a referral for you. (Thank you, RSO!!!) I have references to two other boutique agencies, but I'm waiting to contact them, because I have heard SO many amazing things from your clients about Bloc!

I'm currently playing Dwight Schrute in The Office! A Musical Parody off-Broadway at the Jerry Orbach Theatre. (You can see the shout-out from the New Yorker below.) It's an open-ended run. I would be willing to discuss paying you an agent fee for this job, as I don't plan on leaving anytime soon, except for another gig.  In the past month I've been "in the room" for: The Book of Mormon (Standby Elder Cunningham) on Broadway, various national tours and I'm currently in final callbacks for a new Off-Broadway production at the SoHo Playhouse.

I'm incredibly versatile in my technique and the roles that I can play. I come in the room and you think I'm going to be the character actor, which I am, but I also live in the world of the off-beat leading man (or in some non-union cases, the grandpa). Think of an off-brand prince action figure you'd buy at a Target, that's a pretty accurate description of what I feel like my "type" most closely represents. I also live in the "swing" world. Shows that I could swing right now would be: Book of Mormon, Waitress, and Scott Wojcik told me that I would be a perfect Mark/Roger in Rent.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Drake University (Fun fact: It's in Iowa.), and also studied at The National Musical Theatre Institute where I studied with industry professionals such as Alex Gemingani, Forrest McClendon, Christine Toy Johnson & many more. I have also taken over a year of Ryan Scott Oliver & Lindsay Mendez's Actor Therapy in NYC.

I would love to set-up a meeting sometime if you are accepting new clients? You can find my headshot, resume, and demo clips below. For more information and way more media feel free to peruse my actual site. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Best wishes,

Nathan David Smith (he/him)
